Mr. Speaker. many of us have joined in sponsoring legislation to halt the persecution and harassment of Soviet citizens of Jewish heritage. calling for the exercise of the citizens right to emigrate to the country of his choice. This past week I received a very desperate appeal from Rabbi Harvey J. Fields of the Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple of New Brunswick. N.J.. and Mr. Samuel Landis. president of the Jewish Federation of Raritan Valley. N.J.. urging increased sponsorship and congressional action in securing passage of all relief measures possible to put an end to the oppression of Jews and bring about the right of Jews and others to leave the Soviet Union.
