Physical violence accompanies all other forms of intimidation. Yet still they persist. willing to die on their feet rather than continue to live on their knees. Frantic. the regime has imprisoned many on trumpedup charges. for numbers of these desperate people are both brilliant and accomplished. Finally. as a last resort. the cynical Kremlin leadership imposed an infamous exit tax based no formal education attained by prospective emigrants. In effect. it seeks to make it financially impossible for any educated Jew to leave the Soviet Union. No other group is harmed in this manner by the tax save the Jews.
