The Meat Import Quota Act of 1964an anticonsumer bill which I opposed at that timeregulates the supply of foreign meat entering the United States. limiting the amount of foreign meat to about 3 percent of total U.S. meat consumption. We all appreciate the need for an adequate income to American farmers. But the simple fact is that the supply of meat is inadequate at prices which large families and lowincome families can afford.
