Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930010547

I heard the roar of 100.000 fans at a football game. and I heard the tears of millions dropping on the pavement of our largest cities and littlest hamlets on that black Friday. November 22. 1963. I saw wave upon wave of immigrants coming to our shores in search of a dream. looking for a land where selfrespect and respect for others. where tolerance and brotherhood and freedom to be different. formed a meaningful part of the social fabric. where minority rights were protected and all citizens were guaranteed certain basic freedoms regardless of race. creed. color. or national origin. I heard the explosive catapulting of liftoff at Cape Kennedy. I heard the voice of an astronaut telling ground control all systems were go. and I saw a man. an American man. dressed in a space suit. walking on the surface of the moon.
