Hospitals and aid stations had 24.000 patients and disease was spreading.. aided by bad diet and bad water. Food was almost gone. Bataans defenders had eaten the peninsulas 600 water buffaloes. as well as the 250 horses and 48 mules of the cavalry. "We have no further means of organized resistance."
