Speaker. a few days ago I lost an old friend. The State of California and the Nation lost one of its most dedicated. hard working citizens whose personal life was living proof of the fact that this is the land of opportunity. a land in which a person can achieve great heights from modest beginnings. Fazal Mohammed Khan. an immigrant from his native Punjab. came to this country as a youngster and through hard work developed a showplace farm in Butte County. Throughout his lifetime here Fazal exhibited a deep gratitude for the opportunities and freedoms which were provided by his adopted land and he contributed tirelessly to the cause of good government at local. State. and Federal levels in order to return to this Nation a measure of what he felt he had received.
