When the President of the United States. President Johnson. instituted this programand I certainly agree with the action he took and back him up all the wayhe extended the. hand of friendship and the opportunity for freedom to anyone in Cuba who wanted to come to the United States. That is the important thing here. not that there was an estimate somewhat less than those who finally wanted to come. but the fact that we actually made a commitment to the people of Cuba who wanted to seek asylum in the United States. and extended the opportunity to all who wanted to come.
