The old. the young. the sick were forced to work in this fashion in order to obtain enough sustenance to keep them alive. In other words. as soon as they registered on that listand. as I say. scores of thousands did sothey became noncitizens in Cuba. really people without a country as far as the Castro regime was concerned. and they were arrested and persecuted. � Now. there are only about 40odd thousands left on this list of people who want to get out. and those are the people who will be affected by this amendment if it is adopted.
