Mr. Speaker. at the annual South Boston Citizens Associations banquet this past March. one of South Bostons most prominent and distinguished citizens was the recipient of the outstanding citizen award of the South Boston Citizens Association. I would like to share with my colleagues a small part of the life of Mr. Walter Mason. who is indeed deserving of this honored award. Walter Mason was born in South Boston on November 22. 1913. one of 12 children of immigrant parents. He was educated in South Boston. enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1942. served in the North Atlantic. African.
