Session #92 · 1971–73

Speech #920027048

Mr. Speaker. we have under consideration today two bills which would make minor amendments in the naturalization provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The provisions of these bills have been endorsed by both the Departments of State and Justice during this and the past two Congresses. and were passed by the House during the 91st Congress. The fact that no action was taken by the Senate can be explained only by the press of business with which the last Congress concluded. These are not controversial provisions. Their effect. which could only be favorable. would extend to a very limited number of persons.
