InterAmerican Convention on Political Rights of Women. and the Freedom of Association and Organization Conventions. Two more treatiesthose on racial discrimination and marriagehave not even been submitted to the Senate. The only action taken by the Senate in this area has been ratification of the supplementary convention on slavery in 1967 and the protocol. on the status of refugees in 1968. Our record is even more disturbing when we realize the substantial participation of the United States in drafting and seduring U.N. ratification of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. which has served as the foundation for much of the progress in this area.
