Unfortunately. that hypocrisy has not ended. I have received word from several reliable sources that the present situation in the former Biafran territories Is far more serious than the story presented in the press or in the statements of our own State Department. It is difficult to believe that the present Nigerian Government is capable of feeding the refugees on the scale necessary. or even that U.S. assistance is getting to the people that need it most. One needs only to look at the geography of the situation. The Nigerian strategy was to drive the Biafrans into the center of a circle. with the Uli airstrip as the centerpoint.
