In 1948 he was arrested by the Communists and sentenced to 9 years in prison. of which he served 5. In 1956 he joined with his fellow Hungarians in their gallant effort to cast off the Soviet yoke. Mr. Baranski was sent abroad to secure help for the freedom fightershelp which did not come. The valiant attempt failed and Mr. Baranski could not return to his native land. Going to Rome. he started a camp and school for Hungarian refugees. In 1961 he and his wife arrived in the United States where he has taught American children with a rare perspective. for Mr. Baranski knows how priceless is freedom.
