There are in 1968 a total of 11.044 housing projects with a total of 7.100.000 dwelling units in the United States. If one fulltime teacher were employed in each project it would take 11.044 teachers and cost about $1.10.440.000. We also need to provide instruction for parents of students with special needs. for migrant workers. for the elderlyboth in nursing homes and in their own homesand for homemakers leaving mental institutions and penal institutions. In addition. there is a need to expand resources to improve supervision. teacher education. and development of instructional materials in home economics. Special attention should be given to the training of teachers who will work with the special groups.
