Governor Hanna of North Dakota led a delegation to Norway to present a monument of Abraham Lincoln. Many North Dakotans who have visited Norway as I did have seen it in Oslos Vigeland Park where it stands as a gift from the people of North Dakota to the people of Norway. In the half century preceding World War II. the immigration of these people to the United States was at its peak. and those who were arriving were concentrated in the Dakotas. Minnesota. and Wisconsin. In 1910. the U.S. census returns showed that Norwegians were the most closely concentrated nationality in the Union. and the Norwegian language was spoken by many.
