I introduced House Concurrent Resolution 68. condemning the continued oppression and persecution of Jews in the Soviet Union and the attitude of that Government contrary to its constitutional guarantees of freedom of religion. We know that since the events of this past June in the Middle East. the oppression and persecution of Jews in the Soviet Union has increased. And. notwithstanding the assurances of Soviet leaders to permit the emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union. this has never really occurred. As a Member of Congress I shall always be alert to the needs and interests of the Jewish people who reside in the Soviet Union. and assist in the effort to obtain for them the right fo free exercise of religionthe same freedom of worship as we enjoy here in the United States.
