Session #90 · 1967–69

Speech #900141354

Washington was fighting a war not only against a powerful enemy military force. but a war against the complacency and open hostility of the Americans in whose behalf the war was being fought. Pulaski gave his heart and his hand to Washingtons cause. As President Johnson said. in referring to Pulaski: In memory of a gallant defender of our Nation. let us rededicate ourselves to the principles for which he gave his lifeprinciples which millions of Polish immigrants to America have defended and strengthened over the years. Our country is engaged in a conflict whose magnitude will be fully realized by future historians. Our President is right to maintain our presence in faroff South Vietnam.
