Speech #890205949

Carl Totske. of Roslindale. Mrs. Theresa Atkins. of Natick. Mrs. Eileen Thompson. of Braintree. and Mrs. Joseph Cribben. of Winchester. Senator McNAMARA always retained an affection for his home State of Massachusetts. and it was reciprocated in full measure by his many friends there. I remember clearly a date in 1955. shortly after his election to the U.S. Senate. PAT McNAMARA. the son of Irish immigrants. was invited to officiate as grand marshal of the annual St. Patricks Day parade in Boston. He was beaming that day as he accepted the honor conferred upon him. one which no Irishman could refuse.
