OCD region 5 in Denton. Tex.. and OCD in Washington. Thousands of cartons of emergency food and supplies were made available to refugees. together with more than 1.000 drums of water. which were taken from shelter stores. and supplied the emergency water requirements in the area. More than 700 cartons of fallout shelter sanitation supplies and equipment. sufficient for 27.000 persons for 2 weeks. were distributed to hurricane victims. The effectiveness and capabilities of the civil defense organization as reflected in its very active participation in this disaster should once and for all overcome the objections of even the most rabid civil defense skeptics.
