I think everybody who goes home from this session of Congress is going to be criticized and be met with the suggestion that great numbers have again been added to those who can come into this country. I have looked very deeply into the statistical data available to us from the Department of State where they tried to anticipate what might happen after this law becomes operative on June 30. 1968. It is my best opinion. based upon their best estimate. there would not be any material change in the numbers that come into this country. and. as a matter of fact. it could conceivably happen there will be less immigration flowing from all areas of the world into this country after June 30. 1968. than we are presently experiencing. Several gentlemen in the House who have served on the committee have been more than kind in their reference to my work in this area. I would be totally remiss.
