In my State. many Greek and Italian families are making great contributions to the progress of South Carolina. They are outstanding citizens. As I understand the provisions of the pending bill. it would be possible for many additional immigrants from both Greece and Italy to come into the United Statesperhaps many of them to settle in South Carolina. I recall that it was stated on the floor of the Senate yesterday that many great scientists have made valuable contributions in connection with the development of the atomic bomb. but also. when we came to the period of the hydrogen bomb. there was another distinguished Hungarian refugee. Dr. Edward Teller. who was responsible for that as well as many other great contributions to science.
