I am constrained to depart from my ordinary practice in respect to a statement attributed to me in an article which bears the name of Andrew J. Glass. a reporter for the New York Herald Tribune. and which was published in the New York Herald Tribune. the Washington Post. and other newspapers on February 25. 1965. or subsequent days. This statement was contained in an article which purported to be an objective account of the hearing conducted on the previous day by the Senate Subcommittee on Immigration and Naturalization upon the administrations bill to relax the provisions of the McCarranWalter Act and to repeal the national origins quota system embodied in that act.
