From her status as a powerful nation in the 16th and 17th centuries she was forced into a decline brought about by partitions of the country. until the nations strength was to be found only in the hearts of the people. Their indomitable courage and strength of will and fundamental beliefs in democratic principles have never faltered. they have refused to bow down to their oppressors. Millions of Polish immigrants to this country through the years and our Polish American citizens have made tremendous contributions to the United States. They helped to build our great cities and our industries. their splendid talents in the fields of the arts. music. poetry. literature. have brought us much joy and appreciation. We owe them a debt of gratitude for helping us to become a great Nation.
