Session #88 · 1963–65

Speech #880042488

Mr. President. our distinguished colleague. the senior Senator from Connecticut [Mr. Done]. recently participated in a Regional Conference on Immigration and Manpower sponsored by the Nationalities Service Center of Greater Bridgeport. in this home State of Connecticut. This excellent conference. similar to others held during the past 2 years throughout the United States. brought together community leaders to reexamine our immigration policies in the light of current needs and problems. The Senator from Connecticut . made a notable and constructive contribution towards a better understanding of the objectives which he and many of us seek in enacting legislation to revise our present outmoded and outdated immigration quota system. His remarks and the work of the Bridgeport conference have moved us closer to the day when responsible and reasonable reform of our immigration quota system will be realized. I ask unanimous consent that the speech of the Senator from Connecticut be printed at this point in my remarks.
