Mr. President. I would not want the Senate to fail to note the regrettable passing of one of the great scientists of America and the worldDr. Jean Felix Piccard. Professor emeritus of aeronautical engineering of the University of Minnesota. he was one of the great scientists of our time. A naturalized American citizen. he brought to this country excellence in stratospheric science. just as his famous brother brought excellence in oceanographic science. The world can never have enough men of scientific and other genius such as Dr. Piccard represented. His loss was deeply felt throughout his adopted State of Minnesota. the Nation. and the world.
