Session #88 · 1963–65

Speech #880006875

Mr. Speaker. I simply want to state to the Members of the House and place into the record at this point that in this particular instance we are authorizing the Committee on the Judiciary to handle immigration and nationality cases and the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration. as the distinguished gentleman from Pennsylvania has done such a tremendous job over the years. The original resolution does not provide jurisdiction outside the United States. It is just within the United States. But I want the Members of the House to know that if the Committee on the Judiciary. when it has to fulfill the obligations which we are placing upon it here. asks for permission to go outside the United States that I. and I believe all members of the Rules Committee. will certainly support the gentleman from New York in that request.
