I referred specifically to a secret telegram sent in 1941 by the German Minister in Rumania to the German Foreign Ministry. in which the Minister referred to Malaxa as "the financial mainstay" of the Iron Guard. which was the Rumanian Nazi Party. Mr. Malaxas attorney now states that this document was declassified in 1955 and was presented against Malaxa in the immigration hearings. I have not yet had time to confirm this contention. The reported decisions in the Malaxa case deal in detail with the evidence against him. and make no reference to this document. thus indicating to me that it was not considered at the hearings.
