In response to this. some have pointed to Mr. Nixons connections with this Nicolae Malaxa. a resident alien who is alleged to have had both Nazi and Communist connections in his homeland of Rumania. The Washington Star of Wednesday. October 10. quoted Malaxas attorney as saying that the immigration hearings held in Malaxas case had fully cleared Malaxa of these charges. I want to set the public record straight in this respect. I reviewed the Malaxa case closely. some months ago. and concluded that the proceedings involving him had been most irregular. and were such that the charges against him had not been fully explored.
