Member of a large family of poor Russian immigrants. he began to make his mark early in life. Graduating from Northwestern University Law School at the age of 20. he persuaded the Illinois Supreme Court to waive the regulations and permit him to take his bar exams a year before the legal age of 21. From that point on his career was a soaring one. taking him to the Cabinet of the United States and now to the Bench of the U.S.
