They were arrested on August 18 and 14 when demonstrating near the sector border against the East German border controls." When an electric sign was erected in West Berlin a few days ago to carry in big letters the news of the world. persons in East Berlin who tried to read It from a distance were arrested for "demonstrating." East Berlin police have started. moreover. to move families out of houses which look out on West Berlin streets. The instances cited are but a few of the many evidences of cruelty and inhumanity imposed on the East German people. If they had been freedom riders. they might have gotten sympathy in certain parts of the world.
