Session #87 · 1961–63

Speech #870015845

Mr. President. in this jet age. it is heartening to note the growing number of countries which are removing obstacles to travel by waiving the visa requirement for American tourists. It would be highly commendable if our own country also made it possible for overseas tourists to come to our shores for limited visits without cumbersome visa procedure. International travel is a great promoter of understanding and cultural exchange. It helps to break down artificial barriers that keep people apart. reduces prejudice and misconceptions and establishes truth in place of propaganda. I ask unanimous consent that there be printed in the Appendix of the RECORD the table entitled "Tourist Documents and Regulations." published in the New York Times of February 26.
