Speech #860175461

Madam President. I introduce. for appropriate reference. a bill for the relief of Anne Marie Stehlin. Mrs. Stehlin is the wife of Gen. Paul Stehlin. Vice Chief of Staff of the French Army. She is a naturalized American citizen of French birth. and as such is in danger of losing her citizenship if she lives outside of the United States for more than a limited time. General Stehlins duties require that he live in Paris. It is necessary that Mrs. Stehlin be with her husband and her family. General Stehlin has unique and unusual qualifications because of his past services in the United States with the French Embassy. because of his active association and close connection with NATO. because of his working knowledge of and relationships with members of our State Department. our Defense Department. and other branches of our Government. and. because of his distinguished position with the French Armed Forces.
