Mr. President. on July 6 the Senate passed S. 640. to grant to a minor child to be adopted by U.S. citizens the status of a nonquota immigrant. On September 1 the bill passed the House of Representatives with an amendment to provide for the temporary admission of the minor child to the United States. with provision for and adjustment of his status to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence. if he is promptly adopted under the laws of the State where he is to reside. This amendment is acceptable. and I move that the Senate concur in the House amendment to S. 640.
