This was accomplished through the work of the 5 regular subcommittees and 4 special subcommittees. During the course of the Congress the full committee held 59 executive sessions. This committee. in addition to the public legislation. handled approximately 4.802 private bills. These private bills included 3.739 immigration matters. and 1.063 claims against the Government. Thus thousands of persons were the beneficiaries of the private legislation enacted into law. In addition to the processing of legislative proposals. the committee issued several special reports covering the operations of the various subcommittees. A list of these reports is attached to the individual reports of the subcommittees which are herein set forth.
