In addition to large amounts of cash. religious articles worth millions have been sent to Poland in the past decade and distributed to parishes to help restore the churches. many of which were destroyed during the war and others confiscated. The funds also have been used to maintain seminaries in Paris and Rome for the education of Polish priests because of the limitations imposed by the Red regime in Poland Itself. A portion of the collection is set aside for Polish refugee priests and churches. This year. there will be added incentive to participate in Mercy Week with prayers and alms because of the renewal of the Communist persecution. In the Diocese of Scranton.
