Speech #850177055

From north. south. east. and west. bits of green are worn on March 17 by all races. religions. and creeds. To America. the green. the shamrocks. the harps. these are symbols of Irelands patron saint. In recognition of the importance of this day and my warm feelings toward our Americans of Irish descent. many of whom are constituents of my District of the East Side of New York City. I wish to add my voice as we mark the day in honoring this sainta saint who from slavery. became a symbol of peace. Christianity. and freedom to all of Ireland and all of America.
