It is worthy of mention. certainly on the 17th of March. that of the 39 men who signed the Constitution 7 were of Irish birth or descent. Fiftyfive delegates attended the Constitutional Convention. 39 remained and signed the document. Sixteen either left before the work was completed or refused to sign. Eight of the original fiftyfive members were of Irish blood. Of this number 4 were Irish immigrants. 3 were the sons of Irish immigrants. and 1 was of Irish descent.
