Speech #850103674

Seven children. who had parents awaiting their arrival in the United States. have died. That story will be repeated unless we take definite steps and therefore. today. I cannot urge too strongly that this august body favorably consider passage of H. R. 8123 when it is reportei from the Judiciary Committee. This bill. proposed by Representative FRANcIS E. WALTER. of Pennsylvania. chairman of the Immigration and Naturalization Subcommittee. would permit entrance into this country of an unlimited number of children until June 30. 1959. The age limit is 14. It is humanitarian and noncontroversial and benefits the proud heritage of our country.
