Smith and her daughter. which had been reported from the Committee on the Judiciary with an amendment on page 1. line 8. after the word "fees". to strike out "Upon the granting of permament residence to such aliens as provided for in this act. the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper quotacontrol officer to deduct the required numbers from the appropriate quota for the first year that such quota is available.". so as to make the bill read: Be it enacted. etc.. That. for the purposes of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Mrs. Edward J. Smith (nee Concetta Chiodo) and her daughter. Roberta Smith. shall be held and considered to have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence as of the date of the enactment of this act. upon payment of the required visa fees.
