A limited program of Federal grants for new school buildings has been proposed by President Eisenhower but is opposed by Indiana Gov. Harold W. Handley. Eightynine percent of those questions favored legislation to regulate and safeguard labor union welfare funds. with only 6 percent opposed. Greatest opposition in the poll was shown to proposals for a more liberal immigration policy. with 76 percent voting against a change in the law and only 14 percent in favor. Two key programs of the Eisenhower administration were endorsed by votes of nearly 2 to 1 in the poll. They were the foreignaid program and the Federal program of flexible farm price supports.
