Speech #850061650

Mr. President. I introduce. for appropriate reference. a bill for the relief of Louis James Seligson. The bill is designed to discontinue any deportation proceedings and to cancel any outstanding order and warrant of deportation. warrant of arrest and bond. In introducing this bill. Mr. President. I wish to state that I am concerned to note that on one occasion Mr. Seligson refused to take the stand and testify that he had never been a member of the Communist Party. I wish to make clear at the outset that I hold no brief for his refusal to take the stand at his Ellis Island hearing in 1954.
