Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850006357

Dulles own testimony reveals the weakness of this resolution. By his own admission this resolution will have no effect on internal subversion. which is the most likely way of conquest by the Soviet in this day of intercontinental rockets and atomic bombs. Mr. Dulles is so quoted several times in the hearings. This resolution ignores the real causes of the trouble in the Middle East. The problems of the Gaza Strip and resettlement of 900.000 Arab refugees are disregarded. It does nothing to guarantee free passage through the Straits of Tiran or the Suez Canal. Nothing is proposed to make the states of Syria.
