Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850000991

The United States Army under the able leadership of Brig. Gen. Sidney C. Wooten. is caring for the refugees today. At the very outset he and his aides combed the armed facilities of the United States in order to obtain for Camp Mercy men of Hungarian extraction who could act as interpreters and who could be helpful to the newcomers. These refugees are fed well. they are cared for well in every particular. I have spoken with many of them. Most of them are teenagers and I can add they are young men and young women of character. We should be glad to see them coming to our country.
