Session #85 · 1957–59

Speech #850000991

Mr. Speaker. the distinguished gentleman from Michigan has made a remarkable speech. I believe. however. that I should rise at this time to pay tribute to President Eisenhower and other officials of our Government for the remarkable job that has been done at Camp Kilmer now Camp Mercy. N. J.. in receiving and caring for the Hungarian refugees. I can speak with authority because I have visited that camp three times in recent weeks. While the Soviet Government has been writing in Hungary a story of tyranny. hatred. and oppression. our country at Camp Mercy. N. J.. has been writing a story of love. compassion. and mercy.
