I want to join in the commendation of the sponsors of this liberalized substitute for H. R. 6888. As has already been said. the proposed substitute is a modest and moderate attempt to remove some of the most flagrant abuses under our immigration and refugee laws. I hope it will be adopted. I think it is imperative that it be adopted. We ought to do much more. I am sure. Mr. President. that my colleagues are aware of my longtime interest in. and sponsorship of. several measures designed to liberalize our immigration and refugee laws. Mr. President. on March 4. 1955.
