Session #84 · 1955–57

Speech #840192229

American and Canadian Ukrainians. eager to preserve their cultural heritage. established museums in Ontario. California. Chicago and Winnipeg. Even before the war. the establishment of the museum in Stamford. Conn.. showed that Ukrainians were quick to realize the dangers threatening. and responded to the problem in a positive manner. Artists in the Ukraine. who refused the cultural brainwashing of the Communist ideology. were forced to flee. These refugees have risked their lives for the sake of their art and nation. Some of their works we proudly find on display here at this museum. While I cannot hope to mention. by name every living example.
