Session #84 · 1955–57

Speech #840126278

In the meantime. the American people must insist upon prompt action by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in reporting the genocide pact. which has been too long buried in the archives of that committee. The early approval of this pact by the Senate of the United States will. I know. send a thrill of hope throughout that vast area beyond the iron curtain. It would surely be an appropriate recognition of the incredible suffering to which the Estonian people have been exposed. Finally we can move to do something about our immigration laws so that we can provide asylum in this country for some. at least. of those brave Estonians who have escaped the Soviet terror and today seek refuge and opportunity in the free world.
