It was an independent state as far back as the 12th century and at one time comprised a vast area of Eastern Europe. Since 1940. however. the valiant people of Lithuania have been under the domination of the Soviet Union. The legal government of Lithuania as well as those of its neighbors. Latvia and Estonia. was deposed by the masters of the Kremlin and Lithuania is now incorporated as part of the Soviet Union with attendant terror and loss of freedom. Since the Reds have taken over Lithuania. hundreds of thousands of these brave people have been deported to slave labor camps. On Saturday night. February 18. 1956.
