His personal conduct and his devotionto the American way of life have been attested by his friends and neighbors in the community. Surely this family should not now be separated. perhaps permanently. from their father and husband. This bill would direct the Attorney General to discontinue deportation proceedings against Mr. Lilles. and stipulates that he shall not again be subject to deportation by reason of the same facts which gave rise to the current proceedings. I ask that the bill be considered promptly. This is a difficult case in which the facts found by the immigration officials are not free from doubt. I believe that those doubts should be resolved in favor of maintaining a family together and. not denying a wife and children. who are American citizens. of the head of the household.
