As a nation. its growth is attributable to the same spirit of immigration and pioneering that is part of our own heritage. There is between the United States and Israel a basic community of interests and.ideals that commends the formation of a de-. fense alliance in the best interests of our own Government and in the cause of. world peace. : These then are my views on the Middle East crisis. I have presented them at some length to give emphasis to my position that this situation calls for public debate.
